> 08.2006.: Akane Kimbara
Kimbara shows her poetic, almost vulnerable and elusive drawings she creates in a diary-like fashion, capturing the moment and questioning the ordinary of daily life with huge precision. Her creativity is not bound to those subtle drawings, but is taken into various medias from animation to movie-making. Irrespective of format or media, Akane Kimbara surprises with almost humble, very melancholic and always highly intuitive and self-reflecting stories. Her style is a blend of asian and western culture – she studied in Tokio at Tama University, before moving to Germany a few years ago.

Straight out of her diploma at the Hamburg Arts School HFBK (Hochschule für bildene Künste) in 2006, Japanese artist Akane Kimbara is ready for her first ever solo show „Hashirigaki“, presenting her latest body of work at the Galerie heliumcowboy artspace.
