When artist Jim Avignon moved to New York last year, we all expected him to take over the city within a year. He is pretty close to doing so, and launches a new event this week (wednesday, may 10) at Brooklyn's galapagos art space - labeled "Blind Date Berlin", featuring Berlin-DJ's, musicians such as neoangin or Paul Walfisch, and live paintings from Jim Avignon and videos from Katja Loher.
More info from the gallery's website:
"German artist Avignon has been creating events in Berlin for the past 15 years. He’s created or collaborated with events that have become landmarks, such as Planet, Love Parade, Maria, WMF, Berlin Tokyo and White Trash. Since 2001 he has also been running the "Who's Afraid of Friendly Capitalism" Lounge. These shindig gems fuse the most eclectic elements of Berlin's various scenes. And for the first time, a transatlantic clone is being created right here in Williamsburg."
Oh, and this one is a gem (from galapagosartspace.com): All of this and more in an environment decorated like "Picasso on acid".
