The first ever (authorized) FriendsWithYou Bootleg-Show
For the show opening on September 23, 2006, well-known local and international artists
will help build an interactive FriendsWithYou-Playground in the Gallery and contribute with
FriendsWithYou-inspired artwork for a huge and playful tribute to the artist duo.
FriendsWithYou themselves will be present with videos running on several monitors throughout
the environment, their unique toy dolls, and some original artworks, before they complete the show
towards the end on October 16, 7 p.m., which will also see the presentation of their then
finished book, „FriendsWithyYou have powers!“ (DieGestalten-Verlag, Berlin)

Book Launch feat. the Original FriemndsWithYou from Miami: Monday, Oktober 16, 7 p.m.
The Vernissage will be a celebration of the vision of FriendsWithYou expressed through the
creativity of some of the finest emerging artists today. It will be a night of magical powers,
universal love, friendship and entrancing, childlike happiness.
Hail to FriendsWithYou! The friendliest artist duo of the world from Miami, USA,
comes to Hamburg’s Galerie heliumcowboy artspace for their first ever solo show
in Germany to bring us universal love and happiness. With their self-created worlds
full of cuddly creatures, interactive installations, animations and paintings, Sam
Borkson and Arturo Sandoval spread bizarre truths and myths to the world, enchanting
grown ups and children alike.
Founded in 2002, FriendsWithYou quickly became the leading inventors of characters
and the universes these creatures inhabit. They have been widely exhibited throughout
the US, at pictoplasma (Berlin) and in Japan, and have been invited for their first
museum exhibition at the MOCA Miami, Florida during Art Basel Miami Beach in 2005.
However, on their global mission they have entered the most challenging year in their
career so far, highlighted by the publishing of their first monographic book by Die Gestalten
Verlag in October and by numerous shows and interactive Installations, including the
exhibition at the heliumcowboy artspace.
Due to this heavy workload, and the love and care they spend on every detail in their work,
FriendsWithYou will only be able to make it personally to the end of their exhibition in
Hamburg instead of to the opening.
So ... what do we do now?
