heliumcowboy artspace and Modart magazine present new work by Microbo, BO130, Morcky and TheBoghe. These artists belong to a generation of creative producers whose working area is quite hard to define. Their artistic background, the diversity of cultural influences working on them range from several disciplines, forms of expression and visual languages. If you try to retrace their aesthetic roots, you have to find the right track first.

If you take Microbo´s work for instance, you´ll soon see the difficulty in this undertaking. There are so many tracks bound in her art that you are predestined to get lost in search of its sources. Her work represents a smooth, but at the same time a twisted organic evolution made of streams and shapeless creatures, trying to recall the chaos, or even life´s complexity.

Like any music form rises from a suggestive merging of only seven notes, so many pieces develop through the combination of basic elements which Microbo juggles and plays with, which she is constantly adjusting and rearranging. Grafic design, painting, photography, video, design, animation and illustration provide the the basic elements in Microbo´s work and give life to her visionary imagery.

The influences and the visual places that serve as playground for these artists are extremly diverse, but they do have something in common: their passion for street painting and a wide exploration of media aesthetics that has led to a series of successful shows all around the globe.

BO130, too, is not only street artist, he is an illustrator, graphic designer, and a writer, so it´s quite hard labelling him and his work. He has worked on several projects together with Microbo and just like her, he operates beyond these labels. Everything that captures his interest and offers creative outlet is welcome.

This artist draws his inspiration from the iconography of urban lifestyles, black music, diverse cultures, food, sex and, of course, graffiti.

He has shown his work in countless exhibitions not only in Milan, but on an international level, lastly in New York in a groupshow called „The Streets of Europe“.

TheBoghe (a.k.a the neverending) has been writing Graffiti since the 90´s. He soon decided to escape an institutionalized art track and started working as a creative director after having studied in art academies in Bologna and Perugia. This decision would deeply influence his work as an artist later on.
His imagery and aesthetic structures are not easy to decipher; they are not complaisant and they evoke the sense of a direction towards the formless. His investigations include calligraphy, robotics and sculpture, his output taking the shape of miniature installations, large scale paintings, photography, graphic design, Graffiti and any form of writing he can take the shape out of.

Grown in the graffiti world in the early 90´s, Morcky has been really active through all the decade, the decade of graffiti par excellence. In the late 90´s he turned his interest to new media and photography which culminated in an intense activity of VJ and short film making.

But at first, Morcky was torn between two totally different worlds: art and mathematics. Eventually. his passion for art took preferences. Although he has worked as a filmmaker and VJ he remained faithful to street art, but always pushing the boundaries of a „classic graffiti“ aesthetic and trying to refine his own style. Nevertheless, the heritage of graffiti is always present in his work, like its spontaenity, for instance. It is awlays manifest in Morcky´s unorthodox approach and work with different techniques and forms of expression, in his interaction with surrounding structures, walls and elements. Morcky is a master of chaoes: his graphic work and installations are hardly ever minimalist.

Since 2001 he has been working together with his best friend Rocco „Boghe“ Pezzella on their project „Twothings“.
