When the gallery opened in 2003, the aim was to establish a place to conceive, show and experience art that is made by and for people living in the here and now; educational or social backgrounds were never in the thought process. On the contrary, qualifications are only our shared battles in life and the
complex absurdities this ride presents. Consequently, the heliumcowboy artspace is run as a hub for contemporary life rather than a simple and clean place to present vacuum protected art.
Our exhibitions are very distinctive in the presentation of art. We don’t strive to make cool art parties; we much rather support our artists in creating an environment that re-invents the concept of exhibiting and developing art shows that may be considered authentic in their reflection of our society and selves.

Since last friday, Zast Real Estate is in Hamburg at hinterconti (Markstraße), where he set up his office for week. He acts as real estate agent to connect people from the art-scene with landlords and city planners. The final results of his work can be seen at the end of the exhibition friday, february 29.
Opening hours are daily from 12a.m. to 6p.m. until the 29th of february.
Christophe Lambert, who will open his show "Chaos imminent" this saturday at our gallery (Feb 16, 8 p.m.), has arrived last night and is setting up his installation at the gallery ... stay tuned for more updates and make sure you don't miss the vernissage (featuring Nadsen at the turntrables)!

Christophe Lambert has scraped his knees resisting the obvious paths of a young artist. His eclectic body of work includes films, illustrations, graphic design, sculpture and collage, making him the original luxury punk. Always DIY, and always invited warmly into various avant-garde scenes (beer and entry exchanged for Christophe’s work on flyers, posters, whatever and wherever), his is a constant work in progress. Recognizing stable tendencies in his productions is not obvious. What is revealed in this anxiety is an artist who constantly manipulates and re-appropriates, taking anything and everything sacred and pulling at it until it is profane once more.
It is a human work. It is a punk work.
Mickey Mouse is not safe, nor is Nietzsche or your little sister’s stuffed animals. Cute and cuddly are not concerns as Christophe stabs at the so-called normalcy of commercial culture and its latent ideologies.
Working as an independent artist since the early 1990’s, Christophe Lambert has appeared in several English, Spanish, Italian, Belgian and Swiss publications and his CV boasts ten years of attempts to communicate his voice in solo and group exhibitions across Europe. To date, his work has been displayed in European cities such as Barcelona, Bâle, Berlin, Cologne and now Hamburg.
We'd like to bring to your attention a new art festival, to be held in Cologne in August this year. Submissions to ARTRMX '01 are possible by artists from the areas ontemporary photography, street art, painting, graphics and video art will be accepted until April 15.
ARTRMX is a topic based festival. Theme of the first installment of the festival is "where is my mind".
The Juries are different for all 4 areas, and in the category Street Art, heliumcowboy gallerist Jörg Heikhaus has been invited as artistic advisor, amongst Stéphane Bauer (head of „Kunstraum Kreuzberg | Bethanien in Berlin“), Rik Reinking (curator | collector), and Zevs (street artist | Paris). Boris Hoppek also sits in a Jury, interestingly enough in the advisory board for graphics.

The worlds of two nocturnal pandas

We've been planning this exhibition with the Australian duo since 2005 and they finally make it! The Pandas will show their Artworks in Hamburg for the first time. Ariel Aguilera & Andrea Benyi develope their very own perspectives of thinking, feeling and researching in their illustrations. They show the possibility of a tight coexistance between design and art.

Gabriel Dubois will be showing a new series of mixed media works produced on found wood. Elements of design, grafitti, collage, and textdriven imagery have been exploited to realize these painterly manifestations. You can see his new artworks at mono-concept store, Rosenhofstrasse 5 in Hamburg.

Alex Diamonds' current show, "Love Me With A Gun To My Head", will be extended for one week, until January 25. We are also showing some completely new and again different works, which Diamond created originally for the SCOPE art fair in Miami. A few of them have come back now and are on display in the gallery.
Because Alex ist already involved in his next big project - a solo presentation of a new installation in New York in march, there will be no finissage for this show. Come around during this or next week during our opening times (wed - fri 11 a.m. - 7 p.m.) to take a last look at the show before we take it all down again.
Our first exhibition this year will be "The Helping Hounds Of Hell", a charity exhibition of skateboard art for the benefit of the SAGE-Hospital for Children in Senegal, Africa. The project was initiated by Twilite®Skateboards and the Designstudio Group Dejour (Berlin) and is curated by Jörg Heikhaus, founder of the heliumcowboy artspace.
Over 30 artists contribute unique artworks on 100 skateboards, which will be exhibited early next year in exhibitions in Berlin and Hamburg. All sales from the artworks go to 100% to the hospital as well as all other money earned during the events.
